Child-Centered Learning Environment:
In general sense, child centered learning means to give a total classroom learning autonomy to a child. Teacher is there just to watch and guide. Teacher should not act as an instructor.
But Sapta Gandaki Boarding School defines child centered learning in a different way. First of all teacher should prepare the actual classroom teaching/learning objectives. Focusing on the prepared objectives, teacher should create independent learning environment in a classroom by providing all sorts of required materials. Teacher also should instruct the children how to use the materials provided for their learning. When all children in a classroom can use the provided materials without teachers’ help, and then, teachers put them in different peer groups in order to make them think and work independently. Children in different peer groups start to think and work to fulfill the given learning objectives. At the end teacher evaluates whether the independent classroom learning fulfilled the objectives prepared for the children’s learning or not.
